We recently had dinner & FHE with Chad's parents. I love preparing, planning, having family home evening; however it was a busy day and so we pulled out one of our "FHE on DVD" to watch with them. My mother-in-law commented on how fun it was and then my sister-in-law asked about them. I have had several other people ask me about them as well so I thought I would post some info about them for anyone else who may have not heard of these.
We LOVE them! When you haven't had much time to prepare or one of your children are in charge of preparing family home evening you can just pop one in and it's a complete lesson on DVD. Ty even requests to watch them when it's not family home evening. The great thing about them is you choose a "conductor" who is basically in charge of the remote during the DVD - what kid wouldn't LOVE to be in charge of the remote!? It prompts you for opening/closing prayer, song (it gives you several song choices to choose from complete with pictures and the words), an animated lesson, reading a scripture, answering questions from the lesson and having someone bear their testimony. It will not continue to the next part in the lesson until the "conductor" pushes enter on the remote so this leaves you time to teach and talk within your family. Some of the topics are Happy Helper, The First Vision, Tithing, Love Thy Neighbor (one of our favs - go gobatroids!), and Faith just to name a few.
