Here is one of the many blog updates I will be doing!
On February 14th Ty was climbing up the ladder of his bunkbed for the night and slipped and fell off. I heard the loud landing which was pretty common since he liked to jump off but this time it was followed by a frantic yelling "I broke my arm!". I assumed something was wrong since it looked a little weird and he was not wanting us to touch it because of the pain. It was almost 9:00 so Chad had to take him to the ER. After a few x-rays it was confirmed he did break it just above his wrist. He had a wrap and sling to wear for a few days before getting his cast on.
After the 3 days we finally got the cast on and he was excited for his friends and family to sign it. He even took the marker to church so his primary teacher and class could sign it. After about 2 weeks the excitement wore off since he wasn't supposed to play sports while in his cast... I say supposed to but I caught him numerous times playing and I know he did at school. How do you keep an active boy who loves sports sitting?!
Getting the cast off was NOT fun at all since the doctor was a little quick to get it done and hit Ty's skin with the saw so he started crying, then Isabelle cried because she was scared of the whole situation and then I almost fainted because while washing Ty's arm off it just looked abnormal and it made me sick to my stomach... I usually am not like this but anything to do with my kids and I am so sensitive. Ty still had pain after the taking off the cast which I felt was a little too quick so we had to go back for another x-ray; however the doctor said it looked exactly the way they like it to. He has been wearing a brace for about 4 weeks now and I am extremely nervous for him to take it off. Not only has this been a much bigger ordeal than I thought a broken arm would ever be but it has cost us close to $1200!! I just love insurance!! I think with the cost of his "golden arm" I just want to make sure we have no further problems. Now my kids have paranoid parents that don't want anymore injuries since all we see are $$$$$$!! Some great memories and all we can do is just laugh sometimes at the whole situation! ;)
